Wageningen UR Life Sciences

The University of Wageningen is one of the major European universities in the field of Life Sciences, and the University has even set up a separate educational and research institute in this field: Van Hall Larenstein, University of Applied Sciences, which - like Laco Crumbs - is also located in Leeuwarden. The University of Wageningen's scientists and students are focused on food, health, nature and living-environment issues. Wageningen UR develops knowledge that enables us to make safe, healthy and, above all, appetising food - healthy and safe for us, as well as for the environment, for example by the use of more efficient production and distribution methods that minimise the loss of natural raw materials.

Chain management in food production

One specific angle of approach relates to chain management in food production. Molecular technologies monitor the quality and safety of food during storage, transport and processing: continuous measurement methods record the smallest divergences in the concentrations of both desirable and undesirable constituents. The process technology available to the food processing industry enables companies to maintain precise control over their processes and guarantee supplies of finished product which comply with the requisite quality requirements. Laco Crumbs expressly seeks collaboration with the University of Wageningen and other knowledge institutions in this and other fields. Laco Crumbs also welcomes students for traineeships and graduation projects.
